CELEBRATE YEAR END AT THE CAPE MILNER
The Cape Milner

14/12/2011

The Cape Milner, Cape Town’s most stylish boutique hotel situated in Tamboerskloof, is offering special year-end corporate functions, which will no doubt see businesses throughout the Mother City winding down the year in style. The hotel’s restaurant, No. 2 on Milner, has released an executive buffet menu as well as a cocktail selection, providing different options to fit a variety of companies’ needs. In addition, should the set Christmas menu not suit the client, the Cape Milner team will be happy to assist with one of the many other buffets and set menus available. The menus offer all the favourite Christmas foods as well as a variety of other delicious options, ensuring that everyone is catered for. Chef James Wamboy, the brains behind the menu design, is proud to offer cuisine that shows off top quality produce at its best. Dishes are healthy and wholesome and are more affordable than most of the other options in Cape Town. He is also proud to work with the finest local and regional suppliers who provide organic produce. The secret behind his cooking is that he allows the natural flavours of food to express themselves. These year-end corporate menus are available at this popular Cape Town restaurant, from now until the end of the year.

THE CAPE MILNER ROOMS RECEIVE MAJOR REFURBISHMENT
The Cape Milner

14/12/2011

The Cape Milner is proud to announce the unveiling of 45 newly refurbished standard rooms. The revamped rooms have been fitted with new furniture and amenities, as well as floors and ceilings resulting in an urban chic look. The new look and feel now links perfectly with the rest of the boutique hotel in Tamboerskloof. The rooms have a lovely, spacious feel which has been achieved by using a neutral palette, with a play on texture and vibrant accents. The warm texture of the timber floors and paneling, are contrasted with the white duco units, mirror panels and crisp white bed linen. Taupe tones provide the perfect backdrop for the creative artwork of South African photographer Kyle Mijlos, taken during his travels throughout Africa. Silk cushions and chenille throws provide a splash of colour to the rooms. Interior designer Beth Murray has been involved with refurbishments at the hotel for almost a decade, ensuring that the property’s style keeps continuity as it evolves. “The Cape Milner’s style hasn’t changed a great deal, but the revamp of our rooms have made it more current” says Beth. The room revamp of this well know property only confirms the hotel’s status as being awarded “Best Accommodation”, in the recent “South African Tourism Welcome Awards 2011”at this year’s Indaba.

A quiet Kruger escape by Gill Mclaren
Hamiltons Tented Camp

When driving in the Kruger Park, I have often gazed down the no-entry roads with a sense of longing. It has seemed to me that the elusive sable antelope, or even a large male lion, would be strolling down one of those forbidden paths.

Sighting Report August
Imbali

12/08/2010

The Mluwati Concession has been busy over the last week with some awesome sightings reported and game viewing really picking up as the dry season comes to an end and the animals become more and more concentrated around the water holes. We have had elephants drinking at Imbali’s waterhole daily and various males coming through one after the other to quench their thirst. Coming back from drive a few evenings ago two males were really putting on a show, pushing and shoving each other to test each others strength. It went on for over an hour and was incredible to watch and hear their tusks smacking together. The highlight of the waterhole this week though was a large male leopard coming down to drink and then moving off as though he owned the place!

On the 5th of March I came across 2 male lion’s on Imbali access road. I followed them off road to quite a large Marula tree. I stopped next to it and these lion’s were interested in this tree, which was strange. Also I noted around the tree all the grass was flattened and the smell of a carcass was around.
